GROUP III SPECIALTY MATERIALS

Flexible Graphite
Flexible Graphite Sheet is a homogenous material normally in excess of 95% carbon. The nominal density is 1.1g/cc (70 lbs/cu ft). It has almost universal chemical inertness and is lubricious, compactable and resilient.

The material can be supplied as single or laminated sheets, plain or textured, with or without adhesive backing. This material can be adhesively bonded or mechanically secured to metal (sheet) inserts for increased handleability.

The flexible graphite has a temperature range in a non-oxidizing atmosphere from -400°F to 6000°F. Its use against strong oxidizing agents at temperatures above 800ºF should be investigated carefully.

Plant Fiber (Dip-Saturated Material) The dip-saturation method involves dipping a fiber sheet into a glue glycerine saturant which essentially impregnates the material, rather than forming a more homogeneous structure,as in the beater saturation process.
